My first question when I anticipated a new satellite dish was "Does that dish make me look fat?" However after seeing a photograph of me in front of the dish, and behind Jacqueline, I see the Goldilocks Effect is in full expression cause life is all kinds of just right since becoming a citizen of the Republic of BFE.

The following are excerpts taken from "Middle Earth at Middle Age / Broadband Speed on the Farm",
an article written by Jacqueline Tresl for The Jeffersonian, a local newspaper in Cambridge, Ohio.
Jacqueline Tresl is an attorney, a retired registered nurse, and a contributor to The Jeffersonian.
"For years, I've been connected to the Internet through satellite from Hughes.net. It wasn't even close to broadband speed,
though it cost more than broadband."
"I never could watch a YouTube video or a CNN news story straight through -- I'd have to wait 2-3 minutes, several times throughout the video -- while it buffered. With Hughes.net, it took so much time for the streaming
video to catch up to where the file had downloaded, that I waited longer for the loading time than the time it took for me to actually watch the video."
"After doing extensive research, last week I switched to Exede, which merged with WildBlue. Years ago, I'd never heard anything good about WildBlue. Now that's all changed. My Exede installer, Dave Butler, promised me true broadband, problem-free, through satellite, for less than the monthly fee I had been paying through Hughes."
"In addition to getting me installed, Dave linked me to two online speed tests. The tests let me verify as often as I want that
Exede is as fast as Dave claims it to be. The total cost to install Exede was $50 (for a limited time, a big portion of the initial set-up fee is being waived). I paid the two-year leasing cost of the equipment upfront and saved almost $40. And now, for 10 GB of Internet per month, I pay only $49.99. From Hughes, for 12.5 GB, I was paying $80 a month."
"Last week, via email, I sent two documents of 10 pages each. Prior to having Exede, the most pages I could ever send in one email were four."
"This weekend, for the first time, I watched a CNN video from start to finish without any buffering."
"Yesterday, for the first time, I downloaded a two-hour horse training video in less than three minutes."
According to ExtremeTech.com writer, David Cardinal, Exede does truly offer broadband Internet through satellite for rural customers. Cardinal writes that the "new Exede Internet service -- running on a brand-new, high-capacity Ka band satellite -- ViaSat-1 -- offers 12Mbps download and 3Mbps upload bandwidth to almost anyone in the United States."
"I'm a believer!"

Exede Internet Tops the Broadband Charts
FCC Report Ranks Exede Satellite Internet Best in Delivering Advertised Speeds
90% of Exede subscribers received 140% or better of advertised 12 Mbps speed during peak periods!
CARROLLTON, OH (2/22/2013) Exede Satellite Internet service from ViaSat Inc. became the first satellite provider ever to be included in the annual Federal Communications Commission (FCC) benchmarking study of broadband speeds, and it debuted in the top spot for exceeding advertised speeds. BFE Satellite Solutions, LLC provides Exede Internet for the northeast Ohio area.
On Feb. 15, the FCC released the 2013 Measuring Broadband America: A Report on Consumer Wireline Performance in the U.S. The new report is a nationwide study of U.S. residential broadband performance that measures the actual service performance for thousands of broadband subscribers. The program represents an innovative public-private partnership between the FCC, its contractor Sam Knows, and ISPs representing 80% of the residential market. The FCC report includes results for four ISP delivery technologies – DSL, cable, fiber and satellite – and evaluates services from 14 of the nation’s largest broadband providers.
“In our testing, we found that during peak periods 90 percent of ViaSat consumers received 140 percent or better of the advertised speed of 12 Mbps (download speeds),” the report stated. “In addition, there was very little difference between peak and non-peak performance.”
“Our goal has always been to give our Exede customers the most consistent broadband experience, and it’s good to have objective data showing we delivered on our promise to deliver great speeds,” said Mark Dankberg, ViaSat CEO and chairman. “It’s especially important to us that the data was collected from Exede subscribers and that the FCC offered us the opportunity to be ranked side by side against DSL and cable services.”
Highlights from the report include:
•On average, Exede Internet (the only satellite service provider included in the study) delivered 161 percent of advertised upload speeds. This compares to 108 percent for fiber-to-the-home and cable-based services and 99 percent for DSL-based services.
•Exede service had the least amount of variation in performance based on the time of day, consistently ranking at 130 percent and above of advertised speed.

ViaSat Earns Guinness World Records Title for the Highest Capacity Satellite
For the second time in as many weeks, Exede has earned a significant recognition for innovation and performance. The ViaSat-1 satellite that powers Exede Internet service has earned a Guinness World Records title as the highest-capacity communications satellite orbiting the earth, providing North America with more capacity than any other communications satellite.
The innovation that made this satellite possible is transforming Internet service for hundreds of thousands of customers who can now receive high-speed, high-quality service. In fact, since Exede’s introduction a little over a year ago, more than 200,000 subscribers have signed up. Exede is not just attractive for those with no service or frustratingly slow service. A full 40 percent of Exede customers have switched from slower DSL, cable and wireless services.
This new record comes on the heels of another milestone for Exede. In a recent FCC benchmarking report, 2013 Measuring Broadband America, Exede service led all Internet providers in surpassing advertised speeds. According to the report, performance testing among DSL, cable, fiber and satellite showed 90 percent of Exede subscribers received 140 percent or better of our advertised download speed of 12 Mbps during peak periods - and 161 percent of advertised upload speeds.
What do these achievements mean to our customers? These achievements are independently validating that Exede is delivering what’s promised - high capacity and high speed for a high-quality Internet experience. At BFE Satellite Solutions, LLC, we have waited a long time for a product like this that delivers what it promises and more. Just ask any of our customers how fast and reliable Exede is and they will gladly tell you.
It has been two weeks now for me with Exede Satellite Internet and I can describe my experience with one word : AWESOME! First of all, it was a pleasure to do business with you the owner of BFE Satellite Solutions. As a Dealer/Installer of EXEDE Satellite Internet I rate you as outstanding. You are very professional and dedicated in your work. You make sure the customer understands the basics and are available if questions arise later. Also your customer portal page on your website has been a big help.
As a senior citizen who has used dial-up internet for the past 11 years, I was content but frustrated at times with the slow speed waiting on websites. I did however get in a lot of naps laying back in my chair waiting! Now with the speed of EXEDE, I am done in less than 30 minutes with what used to take me 2-3 -hours. A warning should be given however to new EXEDE customers who have been on dial-up like me - YOUR NEW EXPERIENCE WILL BE HABIT FORMING! I have discovered more than I could have imagined and don't want to take time to sleep or eat. The later is good as I need to lose weight.(ha!, ha!) I would highly recommend that any one on dial-up call you and get EXEDE - You won't regret it.
A very happy - Bill C. Bill C. ...........Jewett, Ohio
ViaSat Announces Next Generation Broadband Satellite
Boeing-built ViaSat-2 will support fast-growing Exede Internet services with unparalleled combination of capacity, service, coverage and flexibility!
Carlsbad, Calif. – May 16, 2013 – ViaSat (NASDAQ: VSAT) has executed a contract with Boeing (NYSE: BA) to build ViaSat-2, which is based on ViaSat’s next generation, Ka-band satellite technology and architecture. ViaSat-2 is expected to be, by far, the world’s highest capacity satellite at the time of launch (scheduled for mid-2016) achieving an unparalleled mix of capacity and coverage. ViaSat-2 is anticipated to approximately double the bandwidth economics of ViaSat-1 while simultaneously increasing its coverage footprint by seven-fold.
ViaSat-2 Expected to Set New Benchmark for High-Speed Broadband by Satellite
Building on the market success of the ViaSat-1 based Exede® Internet service, which has received multiple awards in recognition of its innovation and service performance, ViaSat-2 is expected to significantly improve the speed and availability of broadband services over a greatly expanded coverage area that includes North America, Central America, the Caribbean, a small portion of northern South America as well as the primary aeronautical and maritime routes across the Atlantic Ocean between North America and Europe.
Today’s announcement marks the first major advancement of satellite broadband technology since the initial development of ViaSat-1, which recently earned a Guinness World Records® title as the highest-capacity communications satellite in the world. The ViaSat-2 system will include significant enhancements to ViaSat SurfBeam® networking technology and is designed to multiply the speeds offered to a level commensurate with high-speed fiber-to-the-node networks (FTTN).
“The market success of ViaSat-1 class satellites has highlighted the magnitude of the opportunity for truly competitive satellite services,” said Mark Dankberg, chairman and CEO of ViaSat. “It’s clear that superior bandwidth economics in space create competitive advantages on the ground, in the air, and at sea, compared to other satellite and terrestrial alternatives. ViaSat-2 represents a significant breakthrough in broadband satellite technology – for the very first time combining extremely high bandwidth capacity with very large coverage areas. ViaSat-2 will make it possible to offer superior in-flight connectivity on applications ranging from JetBlue leisure flights to the Caribbean to U.S. government aircraft traveling to Europe or Latin America, to critical national and Homeland Security missions. ViaSat-2 will also combine unprecedented capacity and coverage with operational flexibility – solving historically intractable issues in geographical distribution of bandwidth demand, capital investments, and system performance. We believe ViaSat-2 is more than just state-of-the-art technology, it’s a great investment.”

So far so good
It has been about a month since you installed our system. I must say it has been performing very well . Only drops out during a bad storm. Have not had a video have to buffer yet. I do appreciate the extra time you took to get our computer to recognize the IP address. Hope you like the picture I sent along.
We are amazed with the high speed service !! We still have your sign in the front yard ; and I tell all kinds of people to drop Hughes net and get with Exede. I don't think there are enough TV commercials yet to catch peoples attention about the"other option.
I have actually talked to the screen a few times to say "Whoa" wait for me. Sarah G. ...............New Concord, Ohio
Jay Folickman’s favorite place to work is at his second home, a 1,700-square-foot cabin in the Ohio woods that overlooks Leesville Lake. “It’s a hilly area that goes out to the lake. I sit up on the second floor and just look out on the lake; it’s real pretty,” said Folickman, a senior account manager at a graphic arts company. “It’s really cool to be able to sit out there and have very fast Wi-Fi to do work.
“As far as quality’s concerned, I was really surprised. It was actually better quality than U-verse, which we have at home in Columbus on the middle of a populous area. And here we are, getting Exede out in the middle of nowhere. You connect faster. Everything is faster. So I have no issues with taking my laptop out there and working.”
AT&T’s U-Verse is a telecommunications service available in a number of states. Folickman learned about Exede from a Leesville Lake neighbor, and met with installer David Butler of BFE Satellite Solutions in April, 2015. Butler walked the heavily wooded property with Folickman, searching for the best location to position the satellite dish.
“We put the dish down by the lake,” Folickman said. “We had to take down part of a tree to get a really good view and an open area. He did a really good job with the installation.”
Knowing he has reliable internet at his second home allows Folickman to relax completely on his weekends there and enjoy the lifestyle. “We bought a new pontoon boat a couple years back, so we take boat rides and have martinis on the boat; it’s a really nice cruising lake,” he said. “We chill. We golf. We swim. We hang out. We sit by the fireplace. I like to sing, so sometimes we do a little karaoke.” That now includes singing the praises of Exede. “I’m very, very, very pleased with the product,” Folickman said.
